CICSA Fleet Nationals

This weekend the Queen’s Sailing Team attended the CICSA Fleet Racing National Championships at RMC. Queen’s was represented by Clara Gravely and Max Willms sailing in A fleet, and Alek Magi and Sophie Carter sailing in B fleet.

On Saturday strong and chilly offshore winds made for tricky conditions for the sailors.

Sunday started with snowfall and light winds that built throughout the day.

Queen’s fought hard and posted several top 3 scores in both fleets and a couple race wins by Alek and Sophie. With quite a mixed bag of scores in these tough condtions, Queen’s place 4th, and is determined to push for the win next year!

War Memorial

The Queen’s Sailing Team travelled to Annapolis, Maryland this past weekend to compete in the War Memorial Regatta which served as the MAISA league fall championship.

Conditions seen over the weekend ranged from 10 – 16 knots with the current playing a big role as the tides changed. The team consisted of Scott Gittens and Marc de Verteuil competing in A fleet, and Liam Bruce and Maggie MacDonald competing in B fleet.

The Gaels had difficulties competing in FJs, is an unfamiliar boar class. Despite this, the team managed to improve on our recent finishes at this regatta with a 15th overall. This result came from some impressive top 10 finishes from Liam and Maggie as well as consistent results from Scott and Marc. This wraps up the fall season for the Gaels on a good note in the American league!
