Henry Luce Trophy at Old Dominion – October 17-18th, 2015

Queen’s Sailors were greeted by light winds Saturday morning and relaxed through a long postponement.

Eventually the breeze filled at 6-10 knots out of the West. Matt Sherar, Katie Combaluzier, Sam Thompson and Daniel Sheedy sailed races in A-Division, while Clifton Kartner and Sean Magee-Saxton raced in B-Division.

Queen’s Sailors struggled at first while sailing the unfamiliar FJs. Results improved through a long day of races in both divisions, and Clifton and Sean went on to score first and second in the last two races of the day.

On Sunday, breeze was 13-15 knts early on, slowly dying to 5-10 knts. During the last 2 races breeze built back up again to make for an interesting ending to the day. Queen’s placed 11th overall in a highly competitive fleet!
