This weekend Queen’s Sailing traveled to New York City to sail at the North Fall One Qualifier hosted by Fordham University.
Saturday, September 27 2014:
The sailors began races on Saturday morning in light wind conditions, but warm and sunny weather.
Although the wind was consistently decreasing, the forecast predicted even less wind for Sunday, leading to the sailors staying out on the water to finish all of the races on Saturday.
In the morning both A and B fleet raced consistently, challenging the Princeton team for second place.
Unfortunately, about halfway through the day Denby McDonnell fell ill and was unable to continue racing, leaving the team with only the B fleet boat racing.
Isabella Mira and Kathryn Minkhorst continued racing while Denby McDonnell and Simone Larose remained onshore. They were able to win a few races in the afternoon, breaking the streak of the Fordham team. Overall, the team came third in the regatta despite being a boat short for half of the day.
Special Thanks to the Princeton team for their hospitality and an overall fun weekend.
