At the Ottawa Invitational Regatta this weekend, Queen’s cleaned up in both fleets with skipper Alex Smyth sailing with Cameron Wyndham in A fleet; Nicole Czegledy as skipper with Denby McDonnell as crew in B fleet.
It started on Saturday with a decent breeze and gusty conditions, but the wind died while the sailors toughed out the rain and cold.
Alex and Cam got bullets in their first two races, and Nicole and Denby continued the streak with the team earning nothing less than podium the whole regatta.
Sunday mostly consisted of drifting; with wind under three knots and a 180 degree shift, the first race was discarded and no other races were completed.
The team had a great weekend despite the weather and brought home the Gold for Queen’s, outcompeting Ottawa U, RMC, Laurier and ETS. Cha Gheill!
