2014 McMaster Invitational Regatta

Shortened regatta for too much wind

On September 19th &20th, Queen’s Sailing Team competed in the McMaster Invitational Regatta in Hamilton, ON placing 4th overall in the regatta!

Eric Goldfarb and Isabella Mira in fleet A and Victoria Restivo and Dayna Hellmann in fleet B sailed intensely in very shifty conditions, with unusual winds of 20-25knots both days on the weekend.

Despite the strong winds and relatively light crew weights, the sailors managed to keep the boat flat and in control. Victoria and Dayna sailed very strategically, being the only boat to not capsize or turtle the entire weekend, and at one race, the only boat left standing, still racing while others recovered from their turtles.

Unfortunately, the extremely strong winds prevented the Race Committee from completing the regatta.

However it still provided the sailors with a great experience, and the chance to compete against 7 other skilled sailing teams.

Good job sailors!
