Here’s a transcript of the mailer sent out by Queen’s Athletics in June 2013.

Dear …

This is a pivotal time for Queen’s Sailing

Queen’s Athletics & Recreation is recognized and valued as an integral part of Queen’s learning environment. Lessons learned in teams and on the water transcend the classroom, promoting wellness, leadership, stamina, discipline, goal setting, time management and working with peers and teams to achieve a common goal - the same qualities that support athletic, academic and professional success.

Creating a Foundation to Build Championship Programs

We aim to be recognized for offering exceptional student-athietes experiences, personal growth and development opportunities and for being a perennial contender for Provincial and National Championships. At Queen’s our varsity sport programs will continue to be built on four pillars:

  • Gifted student-athletes, supported by quality programs and networks (including academic mentoring and support, athletic therapy, strength and conditioning, sport science, etc.)
  • Excellence in Leadership (coaching, support and administration)
  • Comprehensive Competitive Program (including year-round training and high-level competition)
  • Premier Equipment and Facilities

Our student-athletes dream BIG, and those dreams require the collaborative efforts and resources of many people; athletes, coaches, mentors, alumni and donors. As part of the Sailing Champions Club, your contribution can make a tremendous impact for our current and future student-athletes and the success of our programs.

Making a difference that will set us apart and provide the “winning edge”.

Our athletics alumni, team supporters and fans have played, and continue to play, an important role in the welfare and development of Queen’s Sailing, assisting our athletes and teams in a dynamic and increasingly competitive environment. Without this support, the competitive gap betv\/een our teams and our opposition would perpetually widen. We continue to need your support to turn our student-athletes dreams into reality, enriching a comprehensive platform that will enhance and sustain the program well into the future.

Donating is easy:

With your help. Queen’s Sailing will move to the forefront of our peer institutions, harnessing expertise and assistance to focus resources to offer exceptional experiences, ignite personal development and sustain excellence.

Thank you for supporting our student-athletes. GO GAELS GO!
